It seems as if Facebook is protecting pedophiles and storing images of young children in sexy clothes and poses.
The latest scandal to hit Facebook shows that despite promises, pedophiles are still allowed to roam free on the social media platform. It’s not the first time Facebook has been implicated and accused of promoting illegal pornographic material featuring young children.
Not the first time
In 2016, the BBC reported that secret groups on Facebook were used to promote, share and also hide obscene images of children. The BBC investigation found a number of secret groups, created by and run for men with a sexual interest in children, including one being administered by a convicted pedophile who was still on the sex offenders’ register.
The groups had names that gave a clear indication of their content and contained pornographic and highly suggestive images, many purporting to be of children. They also had many sexually explicit comments posted by users.
Facebook’s latest changes to their algorithm and rules have made these groups and pages public, but it seems as if Facebook wont remove them. Several people have told Newscitrus.net that they have reported these pages several times, but Facebook responded, that the pages and groups were not violating any of the terms and conditions.
Facebook say it removes content that includes “solicitation of sexual material, any sexual content involving minors, threats to share intimate images and offers of sexual services”. But the BBC investigation showed that this claim wasn’t true and still isn’t to this day. The BBC reported 20 images, but Facebook only chose to remove 4 of them.
It’s all out in the open
As mentioned earlier, Facebooks latest changes have made these groups and pages public and it’s disturbing to see the images being shared and especially the comments people write on these pages.
The Facebook page, hayden summerall& jade weber mc is just one example of these pedophile pages that are allowed by Facebook.
It’s an endless stream of clearly sexually suggestive images of children, with questions in comment section about where to find videos. Youtube was recently involved in a similar scandal where it was shown that their algorithm also promoted sexually suggestive videos of children to pedophiles and helped sexual predators find eachother online.
The pages and groups are often shown as “child model” sites that test the thin line between legal and illegal content. The pages typically feature children partially clothed in adult lingerie, or in highly sexualized poses.
One Australian study found roughly half of images shared on pedophile sites were taken from social media sites.
